Translation

I use a wide range of resources, including online and paper medical dictionaries, specialist websites, and textbooks. I am also able to draw on my extensive experience in medical writing in both academic and clinical settings, ensuring the accuracy and authenticity of the finished translation.

My preferred computer-assisted translation (CAT) tool is Trados, which offers a wealth of powerful features to enhance the translation process. One of the key benefits of this software is the opportunity to create customized glossaries and translation memories. These features can be specifically tailored for each client, not only ensuring consistency and coherence within and across documents, but also, where necessary, helping preserve brand voice and style.

To ensure the highest standards of quality, I translate exclusively from German into English, my mother tongue. I am equally comfortable with both US and UK spelling and medical terminology, and am happy to follow any suggestions or style guides.

I can accept and deliver files in a variety of formats, including Word, PowerPoint, InDesign, PDF, and handwritten documents.

Proofreading

I undertake monolingual proofreading of texts which have been translated from any language or originally written in English. I typically check for errors in punctuation, grammar, syntax, spelling, typography, and dates and numbers.

My qualifications and experience - your peace of mind

With seven years’ experience as a professional translator, I hold an MA in Translation from the UK Open University. I am also a UK-qualified podiatrist (BSc, University College London), with 10 years’ clinical experience in a variety of therapeutic areas. I regularly attend continuing professional development courses, and keep up to date with developments in the medical and translation fields.
